Couldn’t resist getting my camera! (doesn’t do it justice though).

Closest I’ll get to Halloween.

Standard

I hate Halloween, every year I grit my teeth and tell myself it will soon be over, no more ugly, evil stuff around to irk me. Thankfully it seems to be loosing a lot of its momentum at least where I live (If we had to import a US festivity why couldn’t it have been Thanksgiving – sorry turkeys lol!)

I did however actually enjoy carving this pumpkin dragon with my youngest grandson – he chooses and critiques and I carve. He loves dragons and dinosaurs so we googled pictures of them and ended up with this dragon. I quite enjoyed  it, it’s sure faster than my wood carving!

My two daughters instantly took photos for their face book pages lol!

How to be thankful – empathy!

I still remember when visiting friends in Sicily, after a long stay helping in a critical situation in  Greece concerning Kurdish refugees. Our host remarked how thankful and appreciative my kids were compared to hers. How did I do it? she asked.

I replied, when you don’t eat meat for months, have to bathe in a bowl of hot water, wake to freezing cold and fight constant mold on the walls and ceilings in winter and intense heat in summer, your home seems like paradise on earth by comparison!

Needless to say our conditions were much better than those of the refugees we were trying to help (we at least had a house!)

I thank God every day for my beautiful, warm apartment, pension and sweet supportive family. I am so blessed!

Sometimes life takes you by surprise!

While trying to find an unflooded way to my allotment after heavy rain this sight burst upon me. Of course my mobile’s camera doesn’t catch its brilliance, (picture a brilliant red). There it was right in my path (the only semi dry one) a bright splash of colour amidst somewhat deary greens and browns.

Life is like that too sometimes, the path can seem flooded with problems. You have to keep trying different ways, each equally dreary. then suddenly, from nowhere, a bright splash of colour hits you, bringing vibrant hues of joy and passion your way!
