with man it is impossible, but with God, all things are possible to him that believes.

We search the news daily for some glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Instead, we are met with more and more news of deaths and gloomy forecasts of prolonged lockdown. To top that, there are is so much confusion as to how to treat the virus and theories about its cause are endless and daunting. One thing I know, this thing feeds on fear, lowering the immune system and daunting faith.

If our faith was in the government or the medical profession, it will be failing about now. Money and position are no protection from it. It is the great leveller. Few if any know its true source or how to stop it longterm.

That’s why this verse spoke to me so much this morning. “With man it IS impossible,” At least for the present, we have no cure, no vaccine, and lockdown won’t work longterm. It’s too much for us to handle. But it’s NOT impossible for God. There’s a condition though, “to him that believes”. We have to put our faith into action, become conduits of God’s power, not by pleading and begging. Not by allocating blame. Not by trying to figure out what is true, but by choosing to believe.

Faith is not a feeling or emotion. Faith is built by faithful study of God’s word. As the man in the Bible said, “I believe Lord, help my unbelief.” He believed enough to make the choice, to enter into the promises. God has promised to “keep us in perfect peace” if our minds are stayed on Him. We can choose to do that by immersing ourselves in His word till the storm be overpassed, knowing “with God all things are possible.” We must live with Him and in Him at these times. As all things fall away He remains constant. I’ve lived 68 years. How many times has He failed me? Never!
